Wellies
Fashion history lesson 101:
The Wellington boot, also known as a wellie, a topboot, a gumboot, or a rubber boot, is a type of boot based upon Hessian boots. It was worn and popularised by Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington and fashionable among the British aristocracy in the early 19th century. The first Duke of Wellington instructed his shoemaker, Hoby of St. James' Street, London, to modify the 18th century Hessian boot. The resulting new boot designed in soft calfskin leather had the trim removed and was cut more closely around the leg. The heels were low cut, stacked around an inch, and the boot stopped at mid-calf. It was hard wearing for battle yet comfortable for the evening. The Iron Duke didn't know what he'd started—the boot was dubbed the Wellington and the name has stuck ever since.

Jeans Warehouse sale- Pasadena
www.thewarehousesale.com
- Wear a dress or skirt since there are no private dressing rooms...on that note, no holey underwear either.
- grab all the jeans you may or may not want (and in a size smaller & larger) before heading into the communal dressing rooms. I had to make 5 runs to try on 12 pairs, while "Miss G" made 2 and tried on 30 pairs.
- bring a honest friend for the "butt" check...even if you love the look & label, some jeans just make your tush as flat as a pancake
- avoid the muffin top or plumber's crack look. No sense in paying for jeans if they are not flattering.
- Now, to add a little flair to your denim...
I personally think this satchel is a bit much and only appropriate within the city of Las Vegas, but if you want to glam up your denim with some flash, http://www.botkier.com/ has this St. Tropez satchel on sale for $175 (marked down from $495). Black patent is on sale too!
On a recession budget and shopping locally around town? Check out this brown patent number from http://www.kooba.com/. Julee patent shopper tote is 45% off at $343.75.
Or if you are lunching with the ladies of leisure, this "Cent" printed silk clutch is perfect addition & on sale for 50% off for $447.50. Get it at http://www.jimmychoo.com/

The "Clutches Girl"
My secret, I buy these in multiples, different colors & sizes, and whenever I spot a great buy. I don't know if you've experienced this, but whenever I need to buy a birthday gift, I can never find the right clutch and get frustrated at the lack of choices. So if any of you end up w/ a gift certificate or non-clutch item, you will know your gift was a last-minute run. Some are bought full priced, some during the Nordstroms sales, a few at boutiques, and I'm continually hunting for these clutches everywhere I go. You can start your friends collection with black but I personally would go with an intense, rich color. I keep a stash of clutches in my linen closet, pre-wrapped & ready to go so I never have to worry about running to the store to buy a gift, especially if you are tight on time! My lot in life is that whenever I am pressed for time, I never find the right present.....so that being said, I have one gift remaining and I'm due for another run. (Yes, I did look for clutches during my last Dior Gladiator shoe binge and didn't see any clutch worth buying, c'est la vie!)
So, here are my favs.
